Israeli military says preparing "extensive" operation in West Bank after deadly attack
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Friday it was preparing an "extensive" operation in the West Bank following a deadly incident near the Palestinian village of Tell.
The IDF said in a statement its troops were preparing for an "extensive counterterrorism operational activity" in the area, adding that soldiers' weekend leave had been suspended and additional forces deployed across the sector.
Earlier in the day, the IDF said Palestinians attacked a group of Israeli hikers near Tell. The attackers seized the weapon of a member of the security forces at the scene and opened fire, according to the military. One Israeli was killed in the incident.
Meanwhile, Palestinian official news agency WAFA reported that four Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces during an attack by Israeli settlers on the village.
The IDF said it was reinforcing security ahead of the funeral of the Israeli victim to prevent confrontations between Israelis and Palestinians.
ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan removed from office over alleged sexual misconduct
International Criminal Court (ICC) member states on Friday voted to remove the court's Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan from office over alleged sexual misconduct, the court's oversight body announced.
The Assembly of States Parties (ASP) to the Rome Statute, the ICC's management oversight and legislative body, voted by 82 out of the 125 states parties in favor of Karim Khan's removal, ASP President Paivi Kaukoranta announced.

Bangladesh parliament speaker assumes presidential duties after Shahabuddin resigns
The Bangladesh National Parliament Secretariat confirmed to the media on Friday that Parliament Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad has begun discharging the functions of the president in accordance with the Constitution following the resignation of Mohammed Shahabuddin Chuppu.
Speaking to Xinhua, Md Sarwar Alam, press secretary to the president, confirmed that Shahabuddin had submitted his signed resignation letter to the speaker, citing serious illness.
Under the Bangladeshi Constitution, the speaker shall discharge the functions of the president until a new head of state is elected.
"President Mohammed Shahabuddin submitted his signed resignation letter to me on Friday. Following his resignation, I have begun discharging the functions of the president in accordance with the Constitution," Ahmad said at a press conference in Dhaka.
